Yoichi Japanese Single Malt

Founded in 1934 in Hokkaido, Yoichi was Nikka’s first distillery, chosen for its resemblance to Scotland’s climate. Known for bold, smoky whiskies crafted with traditional coal-fired distillation, Yoichi malts also carry a subtle maritime influence. This no-age-statement expression, introduced in 2016, captures the distillery’s robust yet balanced style.

Tasting Note:
Light peat, bright citrus and orchard fruits on the nose, with lemon, pear, and white grape leading. The palate bursts with tropical and Japanese citrus notes—kumquat, pineapple, yuzu, and satsuma—layered over soft malt and a rich, weighty texture. The finish lingers with orange peel, bergamot, hints of chocolate, and a faint coastal smokiness.
