The Glenturret 30 Year Old 2022 Release Single Malt Scotch Whisky

The Glenturret claim to be Scotlands Oldest Distillery. Time muddies water of course, particularly when marketers are splashing around. Who was first is irrelevant to what tastes the best, and certainly the last 15-20 years at The Glenturret has seen a marked increase in quality of production.

Given the length of operations at Glenturret Distillery, it is not a suprise to know they have some incredible old casks laying about!

The 2022 release of the Glenturret 30 Year Old Scotch Whisky has been put together from a selection of rare casks matured in the traditional Dunnage Warehouses at Glenturret. A Niepoort Portuguese oak cask drives the tropical flavours found in this single malt. This incredible cask is over one hundred years old and the dark port which it once held has developed a mesmerising warm ruby hue visible in this extraordinary whisky.

European oak sherry and Moscatel casks further enhance the whisky’s abundant rich characteristics while refill casks allow an array of fruit to make several welcome appearances.

Expect tropical fruit flavours, pineapple, mango and banana, layered with brown sugar sweetness. Creamy coffee with viscous dark truffles, leading into a very long finish.
