Old Perth scotch whisky was a lost blend that was originally created by the fiercely proud Perthshire family, the Thomsons. It was the family’s blender, Peter Thomson who originally produced the 'Old Perth' blend. In homage to Peter every box of Old Perth carries his family’s name.
One of Scotland’s oldest whisky families, the Morrisons (formerly of Morrison Bowmore Distillers), purchased the Old Perth brand and brought the legacy back to life for all to enjoy.
The Old Perth 'Solera' Limited Edition Blended Malt Scotch Whisky was a small batch release (840 bottles) launched in the UK late 2024. We are extremely fortunate to have a small allocation here in Australia.
This whisky is a time capsule. It achieves its profound complexity by drawing liquid from a Vatting of five original Solera butts that had been continuously maturing sherry for nearly 70 years. This ancient wood - so saturated it’s internally called the 'special Soy Sauce' - imparts a profile reminiscent of classic 1960s whisky. The resulting whisky is bursting with notes of dried fruits, strawberry jam, orange peel and nuts.
