Jura 29 Year Old Scalasaig Single Cask Scotch Whisky
Bottled by Colonsay Beverages found in the tiny port village of Scalasaig on the Isle of Colonsay, some 10 miles north-west of its much more famous whisky neighbour, Islay. Colonsay beverages produce beer, gin and they bottle exceptional whisky. Whether young or very mature, all the whiskies Colonsay Beverages bottle have one thing in common; they are the very finest examples of what individual island and coastal distilleries have to offer!
For the first release in the Scalasaig whiskies Single Cask Distillery Series comes this special bottling of a single cask from the Isle of Jura distillery. This single American Oak ex-Bourbon Barrel number 2505 was filled in 1992 and laid to rest for 29 long years awaiting our call.
The Jura Distillery was built in the early 1960s although there has been a long history of distilling on this sparsely populated island. Perhaps surprisingly, its style is typically not peated, even though the island is covered in the stuff. The spirit does, however, have a good rigid structure due to a shorter-than-most period of fermentation and takes long, patient maturation very well indeed.
Bottled at 48.1% strength, this single barrel #2505 is non-chill filtered and 100% natural in colour. Only 202 bottles available
