Known as Kirkwall distillery until 1876, the name 'Highland Park' derives from the hill where the distillery stands, 'High Park'. The location was thought to be chosen for its water source and as a lookout against approaching excisemen.
Highland Park 30 year old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a complex whisky created from fewer than 20 casks laid down in 1989 and earlier years. The Spring 2019 Release is the rarefied result of a trio of different cask types: ex-bourbon, first-fill sherry and refill casks. The result is a whisky golden in colour with touches of amber. On the palate there are notes of sweet vanilla, floral honey, soft caramel, citrus, dark chocolate, spices and an aromatic peat smoke. A magnificently complex dram that deserves your full attention.
The 2019 release is bottled at a slightly lower ABV than previous releases. The 2019 being 45.2% ABV.
