Feragaia — Scotland’s Free Spirit
Scottish Distilled Alcohol-Free Spirit | 0.0% ABV | 700ml
Scotland’s distilling story has always rewarded a little curiosity. Feragaia takes it in an intriguing new direction, bringing together botanicals from land and sea to create an alcohol-free spirit with a character entirely its own.
Fresh citrus, layered herbs and a lingering warmth of spice make this a fascinating addition to the drinks cabinet—and an invitation to get a little creative with your next cocktail.
Enjoy it as the foundation of an alcohol-free drink, or explore its botanical character alongside your favourite spirits. Using Feragaia in place of part of the alcoholic spirit measure gives you another way to build flavour while reducing the alcohol in your usual recipe.
For those of us who appreciate a well-made drink, there’s plenty here to play with.
Wild Earth, Scottish Roots
Its name brings together fera, meaning wild, and Gaia, meaning earth—a fitting introduction to the ingredients behind the bottle.
Founded in 2019 by Bill Garnock and Jamie Wild, Feragaia is distilled in Fife, in the Scottish Lowlands. Botanicals including lemon verbena, blackcurrant leaf, chamomile and bay leaf contribute freshness and herbal depth, while sugar kelp brings another dimension to its land-and-sea character.
Feragaia also shares a family connection with one of our favourite Scottish producers. It joined the R&B Distillers portfolio in 2025, alongside Isle of Raasay Distillery, bringing another expression of Scottish creativity into the fold.
Distilled From the Beginning to Be Alcohol-Free
There is considerable craft behind the finished drink. Botanical flavours are captured through multiple distillation runs, then blended by hand and brought together with Scottish water. Delicate ingredients and more assertive botanicals are handled separately to preserve their individual character.
Alcohol is never used during production, and the finished spirit is bottled at 0.0% ABV.
Feragaia’s amber colour might catch a whisky drinker’s eye, but its flavour follows its own path. Expect a botanical drinking experience built around citrus, herbs and warming spice.
Tasting Notes
Opening: Bright citrus notes of lemon verbena and bitter orange.
Palate: A layered herbal character, with chamomile, bay leaf and blackcurrant leaf.
Finish: Lingering warmth from cayenne pepper, ginger and ancho chilli.
A Fresh Ingredient for Your Cocktail Cabinet
Feragaia opens up possibilities for both alcohol-free and lower-alcohol cocktails. Its citrus, herbal depth and warming spice offer another layer of flavour to experiment with, whether you’re building a refreshing highball or shaking up a sour.
For a lower-alcohol approach, try replacing part of your usual spirit measure with Feragaia, keeping the overall drink size the same. Start with a familiar recipe, then adjust the citrus, sweetness and proportions to suit—the botanical character will bring something new to the glass.
For an entirely alcohol-free introduction, pour 50ml Feragaia over plenty of ice, top with a good ginger ale and finish with a squeeze of fresh lime. Alternatively, try soda water and a twist of lemon, or tonic with a slice of orange.
A new ingredient, a little experimentation, and another way to enjoy a good drink.
