The Glenturret 12 Years Old sits at the heart of the distillery's annual release, bringing together the character of its Highland spirit with a rich influence from European oak and sherry seasoned casks.
Matured with Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry seasoned casks, alongside lighter American oak influences, the whisky develops layers of citrus, vanilla and dried fruit. The combination of cask types brings depth and sweetness while allowing the lighter character of The Glenturret's spirit to remain present.
Caramelised citrus leads into vanilla and cinnamon, followed by dried fruit and soft wood spices. Ginger and nutmeg add gentle warmth, while toasted oak carries through to a warm, lingering finish.
At 46.2% ABV, the 12 Years Old offers a little more depth and richness than the younger expressions in the range, while remaining balanced and approachable. It is a whisky that works equally well as an introduction to The Glenturret or as a bottle to return to when you want something with a little more character in the glass.
The Story of The Glenturret
The Glenturret's story dates back to 1763, making it Scotland's oldest working distillery. Still located in the picturesque Hosh near Crieff in Perthshire, the distillery continues to use traditional, hands on methods of production that have remained central to its character for generations.
In 2019, The Glenturret entered a new chapter following its acquisition by Lalique Group and its partners. Whisky Maker Bob Dalgarno joined the distillery that same year, bringing a fresh focus to the character of the spirit, cask selection and the development of its single malt range.
Today, The Glenturret combines that long history with a considered approach to modern whisky making, guided by its core values of Provenance, Prowess and Passion.
