Sazerac 6 Year Old Straight Rye Whiskey
“ANY CRISPIER AND THE GLASS WOULD SHATTER…A RARE AND VALUABLE GEM!” - Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 96 Points.
The whiskey is named for the Sazerac Coffee House in New Orleans, birthplace of the famous – and sublime – Sazerac cocktail. This glorious libation is produced at the Buffalo Trace distillery. Aromas of clove, vanilla, anise and pepper. Subtle notes of candied spices and citrus. The finish is enormous, sublime and smooth with hints of liquorice.
I've tried a few Sazerac Cocktail recipe' so here's my fav (Simon):
- In an Old-Fashioned glass, muddle a sugar cube (or some caster sugar if easier) with a few drops of water.
- Add several ice cubes, then Sazerac Rye whiskey (50mL) and Peychaud's bitters. Stir well.
- Roll a few drops of Pernod around a second, chilled Old-Fashioned glass until its inside is thoroughly coated. Pour off the excess.
- Strain the contents of the first glass into the second. Garnish with a twist of lime peel.
