The Boutique-y Whisky Company are one of the Independent Bottling businesses run by Atom Brands (UK's Master of Malt). Known for quirky label designs, frustratingly 500ml bottles and for bottling truly exceptional casks.
The Highland Clynelish Distillery forms part of the Diageo stable of distilleries, and is known and loved for it's incredible waxy texture, ensuring it is a vital component for the Johnnie Walker blends (most notably the Gold Label 18YO).
We were fortunate enough to open one of these bottlings by The Boutique-y Whisky Company of a 25 year old Clynelish (Batch 8), and can confidently report the whisky is nothing short of fantastic,
The nose leaps out of the glass like a classic old Clynelish, with waxy notes, a touch of coastal character, green apples and a touch of pineapple. The palate is all this, but with the notably Clynelish waxiness being the star. Oh how much I wish we could have seen this at a higher ABV!
