Mortlach 8 Year Old - Provenance (Douglas Laing)
Douglas Laings Provenance bottlings represent exceptional quality with accessible pricing. Typically these releases are from older barrels that do not impart much in the way of wood character to the whisky contained within.
Mortlach, 'The Beast of Dufftown' in the Speyside Region of Scotland has amassed a huge following in the last decade. Beginning with the incredibly popular 16 Year Old 'Flora and Fauna' release, whisky lovers globally stood up and paid attention. In recent years Diageo made the call to develop Distillery Labels from Mortlach which, while very popular, are clearly priced at the upper end of the market.
This 8 Year Old Mortlach Single Cask Release (Speyside region) was distilled in February 2011 and matured for 8 years in a single refill hogshead before being bottled by the team at Douglas Laing and Co.
The malt is rich and almost honeyed. True to style from 'the beast of Dufftown'.
