Craigellachie 10 Year Old (2009) - Provenance by Douglas Laing
Provenance marks the first series in Douglas Laing and Co's Exceptional Single Casks journey. For Provenance, DLC bottle extraordinary Single Cask Single Malts from a vast range of Scotland’s Whisky Distilleries. Each bottling is offered to you “as natural as it gets” – at 46% alcohol strength or higher, and without colouring or chill-filtration. Casks tend to be refill which helps to highlight each distilleries unique character.
Craigellachie distillery is found in the Speyside region, and is respected for producing robust, spicy, warming and slightly oily in texture malts. Craigellachie, through fast distillation and minimal copper contact keep a higher sulphur level in their new make spirit. After time this sulfur has disappeared, but it's impact is felt through an increase in desirable fragrance!
This malt was distilled in 2009 and matured for 10 years in a refill hogshead.
From the bottler: "Opens with gentle spice and runs into puddings and a fudgy quality. Indulgent with a mocha, juicy citrus and a big malty character." FHL
