Jura 8 Year Old (2011) - Provenance by Douglas Laing
Provenance marks the first series in Douglas Laing and Co's Exceptional Single Casks journey. For Provenance, DLC bottle extraordinary Single Cask Single Malts from a vast range of Scotland’s Whisky Distilleries. Each bottling is offered to you “as natural as it gets” – at 46% alcohol strength or higher, and without colouring or chill-filtration. Casks tend to be refill which helps to highlight each distilleries unique character.
North East from the Isle of Islay is the Isle of Jura. While the Island may be covered in Peat, it does not tend to be used in the whisky production, however small amounts are often blended in to give the malt a slightly smoky style. Not however with this malt.
This malt was distilled in 2011 and matured for 8 years in a single refill hogshead.
From the bottler: "A sea-salty/maritime character that quickly develops to butterscotch and fruit salad. Long with...vanilla cream style, golden syrup and hot-cross buns." CSL
