Ardmore 8 Year Old (2011) - Sauternes Finish - Cooper's Choice
The Cooper's Choice range of single cask whiskies from Scotland's finest distilleries are releases from the Family owned Independent Bottlers; The Vintage Malt Whisky Company. The range is a homage to the passion and skill of the Coopers, the craftsmen, who build the barrels for maturation of Scotch Whisky. The range focuses on the impact of maturation in oak, and includes several obscure and rare wood finishes.
Ardmore was built in 1898 by Adam Teacher to ensure supply for the Teachers blended whisky. No shrinking violet, producing up to 5.5M litres of spirit per annum, and mostly peated. Indie bottlings of this highland gem are always well regarded and sought after.
This bottling of a single cask of Ardmore was distilled in 2011 before filling an ex-bourbon barrel before a finish in an French ex-Sauternes barrel.
From the bottler: "Peat ash and tropical fruits. Sweet malt with lovely lemony smoke. Tremendous length. Ashes of the peat fire".
700mL, 51.5% VOL. From a barrel of only 330 bottles.
