Glenallachie 7 Year Old (2011 - Port Cask Finished) - Cooper's Choice
The Cooper's Choice range of single cask whiskies from Scotland's finest distilleries are releases from the Family owned Independent Bottlers; The Vintage Malt Whisky Company. The range is a homage to the passion and skill of the Coopers, the craftsmen, who build the barrels for maturation of Scotch Whisky. The range focuses on the impact of maturation in oak, and includes several obscure and rare wood finishes.
Glenallachie Distillery was designed and built to produce blending whisky. This doesn't mean it produces inferior spirit. The inverse being true. What it does mean though is that single malt's from Glenallachie are relatively rare.
This single cask release from Cooper's Choice spent most of it's life in an ex-bourbon barrel before a finish in a ex-Port pipe.
Notes from the bottler: "Sweet malt and oaky spice. Port wine and ginger. Complex and mouthwatering."
700mL, 57.5% VOL. From a cask of only 360 bottles.
